Abstract

The importance of the study of Seerah for a true understanding of Islam is undeniable. For this reason Seerah has been one of the most popular subjects among Muslims scholars and readers since the earliest period of Islam. With the passage of time different methodologies for Seerah writing have been introduced. However, all these approaches regarding Seerah writing are not unquestionable. The biggest challenge with regard to Seerah writing which the Muslim scholars are facing today is to highlight the fallacies committed by those Seerah writers who try to see the life of the Prophet (P.B.U.H) with all the lenses except those given by Quran and Hadith and the works of early Muslim Seerah writers. This article deals with that method of Seerah writing in which certain Western ideas are applied to study the life of the Prophet (P.B.U.H). It aims to point out the fallacies of this method in the light of authentic Seerah sources.
