Collective Ijtihad and Lagislation

Abstract

This paper explains the concept of Islamization of laws and elaborates the history of Islamization of laws through a brief study of classical and modern era of Islamic Jurisprudence. From classical time, three famous efforts are discussed i.e. implementation of Muatta Imam Malik, application of Fatawa Alamgeeri and execution of Majallah al-Ahkam al-Adliyyah. Similarly, from modern era, especially the case of three prominent Muslim countries i.e. Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan is discussed with detailed history and efforts.
