Bases and Phenomena of the Cognition in the Time of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)

Abstract

The fundamental faculty of a man, that makes him outstanding, unique and superior as compared to other creatures, is his power of intelligence and contemplation. Human intellect is the prime means enabling him to ponder over Quran, explain it’sAyats and recite it and understand it as it deserves to be. Quran Hakeem invites man in various styles and multiple fashions to contemplate and cogitate and has proclaimed a vast field for exercising his mind powers. But along with such huge space, it has also clearly indicated some limitations for the human intellect and made it binding to follow these. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was the first human who made the organized and successful deliverance of Islamic preaching possible using the abilities of intellect, contemplation and reasoning. Religion Islam emphasizes on the use of contemplation to such a level that one can see its practical manifestation in the conduct of Holy Prophet (PBUH) and in his mentoring of the companions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He awakened the wisdom and sagacity of the people and shattered the status quo of human contemplation. He apprised the public of the bare and hidden truths of Quran. In fact, this article presents the track of contemplation and cogitation of Prophet’s reign, treading on which Holy Prophet (PBUH) followed the commandments of Quran and accentuated the visionary abilities of the companions of the Holy Prophet while brilliantly fulfilling his own duties of educating and guiding them in the light of Quran and Sunnah.
