منهج طه حسين المادي التشكيكي في تفسير التاريخ الإسلامي

Abstract

Historical materialism is the extension of the principles of dialectical materialism to the study of social life, an application of the principles of dialectical materialism to the phenomena of the life of society, to the study of society and that of its history. Describing their dialectical method, Marx and Engels usually refer to Hegel as the philosopher who formulated the main features of dialectics. This concept of historical materialism has not only been used by the Western historians, we find examples of scholars like Taha Husain, Abdur Rahman Sharqawi, Ahmad Abbas al-Salih and Ghulam Ahmad Pervaiz  in the Muslim world, who have applied this theory to the history of Islam as well. Dialectical interpretation of Islamic history by Taha Husain has been analyzed with examples in this article. His fallacies while applying this Marxist theory to the history of Islam have also been pointed out in this paper. In the end, some authentic approaches towards the interpretation of Islamic history and its methodologies have been elaborated and some suggestions in this regard have also been given.
