Style and Approach of the Manuscripts of the Exegesis/ Commentary and the Sciences of the Holy Quran in Punjab

Abstract

Muslim scholars have made great contributions in Quranic Sciences all over the world. In this specific branch of knowledge Sub-continent is not for behind than any other part of the world, especially the province of the Punjab. In the Punjab, manuscripts on Quranic Sciences and exegesis is such an valuable treasure which is an adornment of madaris, universities and private libraries quite obscured from public eye. There is extreme need to take this valuable treasure from clandestine corner of forgetfulness to a place of exhibition. This article is an important link in this regard. Centuries old manuscripts are under our consideration in this article. The basic task of our research is to throw light on the number of manuscripts, style, ideologies, thought, influences, religious purposes, characteristics, merits and demerits. The narrative for the topic of research is based on analytical and critical approach.
