The Nutritional Aspects of Animals in Selected Urdu Quranic Commentaries and Modern Biological Research – An Analytical Study

Abstract

Various verses of Quran describe observational aspects of living creatures. In fact in Quran such descriptions refer to the astonishing feature of living organisms considering their significance that leads to recognize the creative power of ALLAH S.W.T. In this way such verses are considered signs (Ayat/Ayah) of recognition for Khaliq (the creature). Although the Quran is not a book of science, but whatsoever it has signatured regarding the observable knowledge is real and true۔This article discusses explanation of eight Urdu “Mufassereen” regarding the importance of animals a food for human life. And some of the outdated explanations have been upgraded with current knowledge. For instance Kandalwi narrated “ALLAH created two types of animals with His power and wisdom, one is the one who is born in the form of a human being and a camel and a bull goat, and the other is the kind of reproduction that results into thousands of insects, and thousands of mosquitoes and shrimp which are born with rainy water. On the other hand various aspects discussed by different Mufassreen regarding nutrition derived from animals such as honey, milk and see food  have been augmented with recent research based scientific information.
